Riding to a second-place finish at the InsaneRide hard enduro event held in Poatina, Tasmania; the fifth and final round of the 2022 Grassroots Australian Hard Enduro Championship (AHEC), Sherco-supported rider Anthony Solar took out the series’ premier gold class title, edging out closest rival and good friend, Chris Perry (Sherco-supported) by virtue of having a higher number of second-place finishes earned throughout the season.
The series finale was based in the stunning town of Poatina, just 40 minutes from Launceston, with tracks set by the experienced crew at Hard Enduro Adventures Tasmania.
The championship went down to the wire during an intense weekend of non-stop action. The riders were tested on all aspects of GPS-navigated hard enduro racing; ultimately, when the dust settled, it was Solar who would be crowned the 2022 AHEC champion.
Despite entering the final round 30-points shy of Chris Perry, Solar put on a solid performance under pressure at InsaneRide; his title is a result of a hugely successful and consistent season that has seen the 27-year-old finish on the podium at every round, even claiming the victory at the third round of the championship at Goldfields Extreme.
“It has been cool to watch the Hard Enduro scene grow in Australia over the last few years,” said Solar.
“This year’s championship was tighter than ever and really did come down to the final round”
“It is great to come away with the championship, I’d also like to congratulate Chirs Perry and Wade Ibrahim on their 2nd and 3rd place championship finishes respectively” concluded Solar.
“It was fantastic to be involved in the series supporting the Sherco boys; I am beyond thrilled to see Anthony and Chris finish first and second in the championship!”, said Chad Talbot, Chad’s Offroad Setups.
“The three wins and nine podiums between the two riders across the five rounds attest to their hard work and dedication; I couldn’t be happier for them.
The Sherco 300 SE Factory is the hot bike in hard enduro. I feel we have developed a superior package with our KYB suspension settings tailored for the unique demands of this discipline, and I’m looking forward to continuing with both riders next year,” concluded Talbot.
With the Australian Hard Enduro Championship concluded for 2022, the nation’s best riders will then converge on Victoria for the prestigious Wildwood Rock Extreme Enduro on November 6.
