The 2022 Hattah Desert Race in Victoria from July 1-3 will kick off with the silent approach – all thanks to a fleet of Sherco electric balance bikes!
Following the extraordinary buzz around last year's inaugural electric balance bike demonstration for juniors aged between five and eight, Sherco Australia and the Hattah organising committee are delighted to do it all again – but this time utilising the flagship EB16 Factory on the purpose-built circuit.
The demonstration will be held on Friday night, July 1, alongside official Hattah scrutineering in Red Cliffs between Hattah and Mildura.
It will be the real deal, too, with spectators and on-course commentary adding to the carnival atmosphere for the aspiring enduro stars of the future.
And, just to top off the festivities, one of the kids will then win an EB16 Factory on the night, which will be presented by Motul Pirelli Sherco Race Team riders Callum Norton and Jonte Reynders.
All the EB16 Factorys at Red Cliffs will be fitted with race numbers, and riders must use an approved off-road helmet and gloves. These rulings will be strictly enforced.
Following registration, there will be a practice session for riders to familiarise themselves with the EB16s before all the action commences.
Entry is free.
About the Sherco electric balance bike rangeSherco's fun, silent and environmentally friendly electric balance bike range was launched in March 2021 for children as they embarked on their powered two-wheeler journey.
They are suited to children weighing up to 40kg, with features including a twist-and-go throttle, height-adjustable seat, selectable power modes, a fully enclosed chain cover, pneumatic all-terrain rubber tyres, light-weight aluminium frame and handlebar, durable water-transfer frame decals and a 240V household charger.
The EB12 (100W brush motor and 2.6Ah lithium-ion battery) and EB16 (170W/5.2Ah) were the first models to go on sale, and the duo was later joined by the EB16 Factory.
The Factory has a more powerful 250W brushless motor mated to a 5.2Ah battery, a higher top speed than the EB16 (24km/h versus 21km/h), a 'real' fork, a rear disc brake, three speed modes, a higher handlebar, blue rims, new grips and more aggressive tyre tread pattern. New Sherco factory decals complete the premium look for the flagship model.
There's currently a retail promotion on the Sherco EB range, with
all customers receiving a free 5.2Ah spare battery ($209) with every purchase until July 31, 2022.
How to register for the EB demonstration Simply send an email to
[email protected] by Friday, June 24 with the rider's name, date of birth and address, as well as the contact details (phone/email) of their parent or guardian.
We’ll then be in touch to confirm your entry and then see you at Red Cliffs on Friday, July 1.
Strong junior focus at HattahThe electric balance bike event is yet another way the Hattah Desert Race committee is fostering emerging talent, and on Saturday the juniors will hit the sand and scrub of the Hattah circuit across eight separate classes.
Then it’s the turn of the seniors on Sunday, with Reynders (450 SEF Factory), Norton (500 SEF Factory) and local legend Nathan Trigg (500 SEF Factory) just three of the riders holding up the Sherco fortunes.
