JONTE REYNDERS: 2021 TASSIE ENDURO CHAMP

1/11/2021

A near-flawless exhibition of race craft, strategy and speed, as well as almost-impregnable defence.

That’s why Motul Pirelli Sherco Racing Team’s Jonte Reynders is the 2021 Tasmanian enduro champion, and the 24-year-old reinforced his credentials with victory at a season-ending eight-hour epic in Sprent on October 30 on his 2022 model 300 SE Factory.

Jonte’s eighth win out of nine rounds in 2021 wasn’t another solo spree, however, as he was joined by Tom Woodhouse to take home the eight-hour spoils by over three minutes from Kyron Bacon and Jaiden Cox. Seton Broomhall and Bayless Davies were third.

Jonte did have to overcome some adversity, though: his rear tyre and rim decided to part ways, which forced him to limp back to the pits at one stage.

"The track was pretty brutal, 19km loop of quite technical going," said Jonte. "My 300 was flawless other than the tyre de-railing off the rim, and I had to ride like that for 10 minutes and was lucky to get back into the pits.

"We lost the lead at that point, but managed to regain it. I was stoked to come away with the victory and wrap up the championship."

Congrats on a brilliant season, Jonte! We can’t wait to see him light it up again in 2022 – in both Tassie and on the mainland!
