Andy Wilksch has claimed the open two-stroke class win at the Hattah Desert Race aboard the Motul Pirelli Sherco 300 SE Factory edition. Wilksch dominated his opposition with a fine display of smooth riding on the powerful Sherco two-stroke. Wilksch recorded his best-ever outright Hattah result in the process with a credible 13th place overall.
“That was a tough one,” Wilksch explained after the race. “I had a pretty clean run despite a crash on the first lap where I lost a few positions. I settled into my own pace and got a flow going and set about ticking off the laps.”
“I battled with some fast guys and that pushed me along a little bit. I got to the three-hour mark and felt I had the fitness to push to the end on a very rough track. The 300 played well into my hands in that regard. I was able to place the bike where I wanted to which helped me select good lines. Smooth is fast and it worked for me.”
“I’m pretty stoked with the result. The bike was just awesome. It was perfect, and I felt comfortable. We have a lot of good parts on the bike like over-sized foot pegs from Specialised Enduro Parts, MSC Moto steering damper, Steg Pegz and Topline Seat covers and Chad’s Off-Road Setups had it working perfectly. This bike is a real credit to Derek Grundy and the Motul Pirelli Sherco Team. We proved this bike is a winner.”
