It was the perfect end of season result for Wade Young when he stormed to convincing victory at the 50th edition of the Roof of Africa. The Sherco rider was determined for victory after being forced to sit out the 2016 version of the event due to injury.

Young kicked off the 2017 Roof of Africa with seventh place in the prologue before going on to dominate the multi-day race. The Sherco rider adding the 2017 title to his previous Roof of Africa wins in 2012 and 2014. It was the 2012 edition of ‘The Roof’ where Young made his hard enduro debut and placed the hard enduro fraternity on notice by winning it at just 16 years of age.

“I couldn’t be happier than to finish the season with another win,” Young said.  “Everything just went right for me.”

Sherco’s Mario Roman was also in contention for the Roof of Africa, eventually finishing in eighth position.

The Sherco extreme enduro duo contested 18 international races in 2017, recording nine wins and 10 podium places.

Young and Roman will now enjoy an off-season before resuming hard enduro duties at Ales Trem on January 20, 2018.
