Sherco Australia will field a solid team of riders at the upcoming Australian Four Day Enduro spearheaded by 2016 Enduro World Champion Matthew Phillips. The Tasmanian native returned to Australia at the completion of his successful Enduro World Championship and is keen to capture the Four Day title.
Phillips will pilot his famous Sherco 300 SEF-R in the super-hot E2 category but will be gunning for the outright honours, an accolade that has eluded him to date.
“It’ll be exciting to see the world champ in action,” said Sherco Australia’s Stephen Tuff.
“An outright Four Day Enduro win isn’t an easy thing to achieve but I know Matthew is keen to add the title to his resume. It won’t be easy for him. Matthew is at the end of a long year of racing on the other side of the globe and there’s a strong field of riders entered that want to show him a thing or two. But if there’s one thing about Matthew Phillips it’s that you can never, ever count him out.”
Joining Phillips at the event will be Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory Team rider and newly-crowned Under-19 Australian Off-Road Champion Wil Ruprecht. The young rider from Taree, NSW has just completed Year 12 exams and is fit and focussed on the race ahead.
“Wil is a weapon on a rider,” Tuff continued.
“He’s so determined to do well. He’s been training the house down and after placing third in the E1 class last year in his maiden A4DE, he’s expecting to do well on the Sherco 450 SEF-R.”
Justin Carafa will tackle his first A4DE on a Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory 450SEF-R and despite having no experience at a traditional time-carded enduro, the former Supercross racer is keen to impress.
The Tasmanian contingent will be well represented at the A4DE with Motul Pirelli Sherco Academy Team rider Baylee Davies aboard a Sherco 300 SEF-R while young charger Sam Dolbel will also ride a 300 SEF-R.
The 2016 Australian Four Day Enduro kicks off with the official prologue on Tuesday November 15 at Mansfield, Victoria. The event will conclude Saturday November 19 with the final motocross. Information can be found at www.a4de.com.au
