Motorcycle Land in Ballarat is once again supporting a Sherco rider looking to make the most of a well-supported Hattah Desert Racing experience. After a successful 2018 Hattah Desert Race campaign with Justin Carafa claiming the 250cc two-stroke win on a Sherco 250 SE Factory edition, Motorcycle Land is stepping up a class with a new rider.
Tasmanian off-road racing gun Jonte Reynders will race a Sherco 300 SE Factory edition in the 251cc and Over Class prepared and supported by Motorcycle Land. Motorcycle Land’s Mathew Brown is excited to go racing with Reynders behind the handlebars.
“The Hattah Desert Race is such a fantastic event and we love being involved,” said Brown. “The two-stroke classes provide an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our amazing bikes and it’s exciting to work with young and appreciative riders. I think Jonte will do a great job racing our bike and we’re confident he’ll be in the mix for a top result. The Sherco 300 SE Factory edition is such a great bike that there’s really not much required to get it race ready. The engine is by far the most suited to racing this type of event and the KYB suspension is top-shelf straight from the showroom floor. So we’re ready for action and we just want to go fast.”
Despite never competing in the Hattah Desert Race, Reynders is looking forward to the event and racing the Sherco 300 SE Factory edition for the first time.
“This will be a big experience for me,” Renders offered. “I’ve never raced it before, and this will be my first time on the Sherco 300cc two-stroke. I know Hattah is one of the toughest races to do so I’ve been riding longer motos and riding as much sand as I can. Ideally, I’d like to think I can win the Class. I want to qualify well at the prologue on Saturday to set myself up for the main race. I’m really excited to race the bike. The boys at Motorcycle Land know what they’re doing. They’ve done this before and know what it takes to win so I want to give it my best. It’s a long race but I have a solid strategy and a good crew so I’m pumped for it.”
The Hattah Desert Race commences this Friday, July 5 with a massive carnival atmosphere at the official scrutineering at Quandong Park Recreation Reserve Red Cliffs between 3pm – 7pm. Race qualifying will take place Saturday July 6th at 9.00am at Boonoonar Road Colignan The main race will being at 9.00am Sunday July 7th at Boonoonar Road Colignan.
