The Finke Desert Race is bucket-list event for any die-hard dirt bike racer and it’s an event that has been on the radar of Kate Norman for a long time. The Motul Pirelli Sherco Team rider lined up on her Sherco 300 SEF-R with a solid preparation, but nothing can truly prepare you for Finke as Norman found out.
“This is the hardest ride I have ever done,” said Norman. “The track is just so brutal but my 300 SEF-R got me safely down the track and back again. I owe a huge thanks to Derek Grundy, Stephen Tuff and Brad Viney from the Motul Pirelli Sherco Team. The bike and support was just brilliant.”
Despite the 2018 event being Norman’s first attempt at the Finke Desert Race, the Sherco racer was the fourth fastest female and she completed the race in 377th position from 600 starters.
“It was a crazy race for me, but I had good support, a great bike and excellent fuel stops,” Norman added. “It’s impossible to do this race without a solid Team. Tough is an understatement, but I am so pleased I did it.”
Kate Norman is now preparing for the Hattah Desert Race near Mildura on July 6-8, 2018.
