Defending EnduroGP World Champion, Matthew Phillips heads into rounds 5 and 6 of the 2017 Championship with an 8-point margin over Britain’s Steve Holcombe. Finland’s Antti Hellsten sits a further 6-points behind and Phillips is intent on extending the Championship points’ lead.
Held in the Italian city of Spoleto, north of Rome, the two-day GP of Italy will see riders contest 18 special test in very technical and physically demanding terrain.
Hailing from Tasmania, the conditions Phillips will face couldn’t be more different to that of his home town, yet the multi-time world champion will be out to stamp his authority on the Championship with all guns blazing aboard his Sherco 300 SEF-R.
Fellow Australian, Ben Kearns, from NSW will contest his second EnduroGP World Championship round as teammates with Phillips on the Sherco CH Racing Team.
Kearns gained invaluable experience during his first EnduroGP in Spain in April and is looking to improve on his 13th and 12th results in the Enduro Junior Class.
Now based in Italy, Kearns has been training and testing under the guidance of Phillips and the Sherco CH Racing Team and is confident of climbing the ranks on his Sherco 300 SEF-R.
With radical combinations of tight and technical to open, fast and flowing tracks the Sherco 300 SEF-R remains the bike of choice for the Australian enduro racing duo.
