MOTORCYCLE LAND BACK FINKE FLYER

Sam Davie set to race a Sherco with backing from Motorcycle Land in Ballarat

2/05/2016

Sam Davie and Ballarat Sherco dealer, Motorcycle Land have teamed up for an assault on Australia’s two biggest off-road race events. Davie will take on the infamous Finke Desert Race in Alice Springs next month and back that up with the gruelling Hattah Desert Race in Mildura in July.

The Echuca-based rider turned heads in 2015 when he placed 9th outright in his first-ever attempt at the Finke Desert Race. Motorcycle Land acknowledge the effort and was keen to get behind Davie in 2016.

“For a rider to place 9th from 600 riders in his first effort at Finke is incredible,” stated Matt Brown of Motorcycle Land. “We have a fantastic machine in the Sherco 450SEF-R and with a rider like Sam, we’re confident he will do well again in 2016. We have a demo 450SEF-R here in Ballarat and every rider that’s experienced it agrees it’s up to the task so we’re all excited to see how Sam goes.”

Davie has taken the support of Motorcycle Land seriously and upped his off-bike training to reach a new level of fitness. After shredding 9kg Davie is strong, fit and ready to finalize preparations.

“I’m training hard off the bike and riding as much as possible,” Davie said. “The team at Motorcycle Land have provided me with a great bike. The Sherco is very versatile as it’s easy to ride but has plenty of power and most importantly it handles the rough terrain really well. It gets so rough at Finke, there is nothing else like it.”

Davie has been working hard on making the bike perfect for the demanding speed and incredibly rough Outback conditions with help from Chad’s Off-Road Setups and is working closely with Sherco Australia.

“Sam is a good rider. He’s fast and physically strong,” explained Sherco Brand Manager, Stephen Tuff. “Sam knows what it takes to survive this brutal race and with the combination of the Sherco and a leaner and meaner Sam Davie, we’re hopeful of a strong finish. We’re under no illusions of how hard this race is. Anything and just about everything does happen as far as broken bikes, broken bodies and shattered dreams are concerned. We know we have a strong chance at finishing with Sam and with the Sherco 450SEF-R so we’ll give it our best and hope for a clean run.”

The Finke Desert Race will be held over the Queen’s Birthday long-weekend, June 11-13, 2016 in Alice Springs. You can stay up to date on the Finke Desert Race at www.finkedesertrace.com.au and you can learn more about the Sherco 450SEF-R from Matt Brown at Motorcycle Land www.motorcycleland.com.au.
