Australian Matthew Phillips has proven the doubters wrong by winning the second day of racing outright at the GP of Agadir. The Tasmanian placed 2nd in the E2 class and 3rd outright on Saturday then went on to win the E2 class and claim outright victory in the Enduro GP on Sunday.
The first Enduro GP of the 2016 Championship season arrived with plenty of speculation and plenty of enduro faithfuls questioned whether Phillips’ move to Sherco would be successful. The tough Tasmanian left no doubt that his equipment is up to the task and absolutely no questions about his motivation to be the best in the world.
“I started really well on day one, but I knew what I needed to do to improve on day two,” commented Phillips. “I kept things smooth throughout day two and it worked great, I’m so pleased to give Sherco this first Enduro GP win. The tests got pretty brutal, but you just had to keep plugging away. My bike was awesome all weekend, we can carry some well-earned confidence into next weekend’s GP of Portugal.”
