Sherco’s Jess Gardiner completes Enduro World Championship with flying final round in France
Jess Gardiner has capped off a turbulent 2015 Enduro World Championship campaign with a resounding second place at the eighth and final round at the GP of France. Gardiner worked hard during Saturday’s seventh round to place third before finding that little bit more to climb one step higher on Sunday.
“It was a tough day for me,” Gardiner explained after Saturday’s efforts.
“I crashed in every test except two. It wasn’t all that bad with a third place moving me up to third in the Championship.”
Gardiner performed much better on Sunday and was clearly upbeat about her result.
“I’m so happy about my day here in France with a nice little second place. I rode a lot better and closer to how I should be.”
Despite missing rounds five and six due to a broken arm, Gardiner’s double podium in France was enough to secure third place overall for the 2015 Championship. Gardiner’s early season speed and consistency paid dividends during her enforced layoff with enough Championship points in the bank to keep her in podium placing contention.
“After missing two rounds in Belgium with my mid-season injury I’m so proud to sneak back on the overall podium.”
Gardiner will now return to Australia to finalise her preparations for the Australian Four Day Enduro held in Tasmania October 19-24.
