The Motul Pirelli Sherco Enduro Team made its national racing debut at round one of the Insure My Ride Enduro-X Nationals in Brisbane last Saturday.
Team riders Broc Grabham and Mitch Harper both chose the Sherco 300SEF-R to battle the best riders in the country where a stacked 34-rider pro field proved to be extremely tough competition.
With only 14 places in the final up for grabs, competition was fierce in the heat races. Mitch made it through to final while Broc suffered some bad luck forcing him out of contention.
“I wasn’t fast enough this time,” Broc lamented. “My fitness is good, the Sherco is awesome, I just need to get a clean run and give it heaps in Sydney.”
The three race format for the finals meant back-to-back 5-lap races which was extremely intense. Mitch rode smart and carded 7th, 6th and 5th placing for 6th overall.
“I just tried to enjoy the racing and have fun,” Harper explained after the event. “I rode smart and worked at staying consistent because I’ve only been on the Sherco for two weeks. I came in as an underdog so there was no pressure on me. Enduro-X is tough on bikes but I had no trouble with my 300SEF-R. My bike was stock apart from my preferred handlebars and the Pirelli mid-soft tyres. It just goes to show how good these bikes are. I’m excited to test a bit more and I’m pumped for round two in Sydney.”
Sherco enjoyed podium success in three of the support classes with Jessica Gardiner placing third in the Women’s, Jai Wedlock third in the Expert class and Jeremy Sims second in the Clubman class.
