Marc freixa exclusive interview: I feel very strong this year....

Sherco mailnews met Marc Freixa on his last training ride prior to leaving for Sheffield (uk) for the first World Indoor cup round. He was training in an area close to his home town of Torellò which is near the Spanish Pyrenees and very close to PXC headquarters. Marc was making final adjustments on his 2002 Sherco weapon.

We stopped by to ask him a few questions:

SM: We know you have been quietly working this winter, what improvements have you and Paxau made on the bike ?
MF: Mainly we have been working on frame geometry following last year’s direction. We have also made a great improvement on the bottom end power thanks to the new Leonelli ignition. There are also many small changes, from the exhaust to the front fork, but all of them are basically settings. Paxau is always on the leading edge....

SM: This week-end the Indoor cup starts at Sheffield, how do you feel before the event ? What is your confidence level ?
MF: I know all the other riders in the cup have worked very hard also. I feel that Dougie and Raga will be my strongest competitors. Personally I feel much more mature this year and I have plenty of confidence. I hope to be able to bring the victory to Sherco. Also, I want to say that we will miss Graham Jarvis, who is still injured, he will probably not ride until February. I hope he gets back soon....

SM: How is the preparation of the OTYAN-Sherco team going ?
MF: Everything is going smoothly; the manager of the team Xevi Vilalta takes care of all the details. I'm sure that the merge of Otyan and Sherco will be a winning combination.

SM: Tell us about the outdoor calendar for 2002 ...

MF: I like the calendar and I think it will be a nice championship. I only have to point out that the Japan world round in September will be the last one and there is too much time between it and the prior event. This is not good for a competition that has proved to be the best in the last years.

SM: A wish for this year ?

MF: I hope to beat Dougie !!

SM: Good luck !!!

Sherco dealer spotlight: MOTOS ALFA. Cercedilla. MADRID (Spain)

Mr. Adolfo Barreiro is managing his Sherco Dealership in the tidy and beautiful village of Cercedilla, 50 km. Northbound of Madrid at the skirt of the Guadarrama mountains.

After finishing his mandatory military service in 1978, Adolfo decided that he was a good enough technician to earn his living by repairing off road motorcycles (mainly trials bikes) at his summer holiday village. He also could then leave Madrid to live in this superb countryside at 1200 m. above sea level.

As time passed, his business was (fortunately) becoming better and eight years ago he built a new workshop and showroom to help him improve turnover and profit! His business is mainly focused on trials and enduro bikes. He tries to offer excellent customer focused service.

Alfa Motos has been deeply involved in racing since the very beginning, including road racing, trials and enduro. His team has clinched several national and many local championships. But Adolfo's love is still trials bikes. Every week-end he manages to arrange an impressive "extreme" trip with his Sherco in his favorite home mountains which are presently snow covered.

You can contact Adolfo at Motos Alfa at motosalfa@jazzfree.com
