Bad luck for Graham Jarvis as he sustained a new injury to his shoulder at the Indoor in Rennes (France). Graham who was fully recovered from the knee injury he received last year will have to undergo treatment for the shoulder. Graham Jarvis explained in his own words just what happened and of the consequences of his latest injury. "I have had a small problem with this shoulder for the past year, but it has never dislocated before. I saw an Osteopath 2 month ago and was told that there was slight ligament / cartilage damage but physical therapy would cure it and there wasn't any risk of serious injury." "It was the 2nd lap, 1st section. I jumped off some sleepers and landed awkwardly, but still feet up. It dislocated and popped back in immediately and I finished the section. There wasn't much pain, I did the 2nd section no problem, it was quite easy really, Sonya arranged for the doctor to strap it after the 2nd section, and then I did the 3rd section ok as well. But on the 4th section it dislocated again and I had to stop." "We flew back from Paris to Leeds and went directly to see my specialist at the Yorkshire Clinic - but he'd already arranged for me to see a Shoulder Specialist/Surgeon as soon as I arrived. He was sure I'd need an operation and would be out for 3-4 months. I am TOTALLY pissed off but perhaps I should be grateful that I finished this years Championship in one piece and I have a chance to be fit for next years Championship." "The specialist said that there was definitely swelling inside, but you couldn't really see anything from the outside. I'm waiting to hear from the Radiographer tomorrow, then have an MRI scan, see the results and if there is any slight damage of ligament / cartilage directly around the joint then and physical therapy isn't enough and I'll have to have the op." We wish the very best for Graham. He assured us that he will be 100% ready for next years World Championship. |
