Rob, there were 4-5
riders capable of winning this years Australian Trials Championships. You have
already won the Championship in 1996, were you confident this year.
Yes it has been close all year
but I have been putting a lot of time on my Sherco and after the Trial des
Nations I was very confident of returning home to compete in the Australian
Championships. I had a small problem with a middle ear infection the week
before the Championships but that cleared on thursday before the event and I
got in some good training in the few days prior to the event. |

Did you think competing in Spain at
the Trial des Nations helped you prepare for the Championships.
Yes for sure, it is always a big boost to
compete in Europe against the best riders and teams from around the world. I
would like to thank Don from Trialzone Australia & The guys at the Sherco
factory for helping me to tune the new 2001 2.9 Sherco for the Trials des
Nations. It makes a big difference when you have this backup & I certainly
feel it helped to finish best individual score in the Aussies as well as our
best finish in the B class and 13th overall. |

What are your plans for next
year?
Well I announced my retirement from Trials
after the Championships. I am going to have a year off trials and pursue my
Stunt Riding commitments, I will still be using my Trialzone Sherco 290 as part
of my Stunt shows. The spectators always love the trials segment of my shows. I
finished 3rd in the World Stunt Riding Championships this year in canada behind
A.C.Farrias and would like to see where this takes me. I will still always
enjoy my trials riding and maybe one day I will return to competition. I have a
few years left yet. |
