Worldwide Exclusive,
the new Sherco Enduro 4.5i is here
|
|
|
The most important
new release from Sherco for the year 2004 is the new Enduro 4.5i -
4 Stroke motorcycle, the latest bike entering the competitive 4 Stroke
Off Road sports market in the mid-high cc category.
|
| We decided to design and use our own engine
for this model, following the same guidelines used when Sherco
developed its first trials model. This way, the specifications are
guaranteed to provide the exact requirements of the final product,
without having to adapt the bike to any other outside manufacture. |
|
|
|
|
|
Entirely developed in the Sherco Nimes factory, the new
Enduro 4.5i includes the latest advances in
the industry, without being a limited edition product or a
handcrafted product at all. Its components are specifically
designed for mass-production on a large scale, so that reliability
and easy maintenance will be assured.
Following the classic Sherco philosophy - the new Enduro
4.5i is designed to be a highly competitive product.
Therefore, lightness, easy handling and efficiency have been
key aspects taken into consideration during the development
process.
The engine - entirely designed by Sherco as mentioned above
- is a 4 Stroke single cylinder, with an aluminum block. It
has an overhead camshaft, four valves and is liquid-cooled,
with a total displacement of 448.6 cc. An electronic fuel
injection system takes care of the intake; it is controlled
by a digital Magneti Marelli control system. It has a gear
driven primary drive, a six-speed gearbox and the clutch is
hydraulically controlled. The exhaust pipe is made of stainless
steel and it is equipped with an aluminum muffler.

The chassis of
the new Sherco Enduro 4.5i
matches the high standard of the bike. The frame is a
simple cradle design that is made out of chrome-molybdenum
steel, with an aluminum-rear detachable sub-frame. The
suspensions are state-of-the-art. The front suspension
consists of an inverted Paioli-Kayaba fork, with 46 mm
fork tubes and forward offset axle. The highlight of the
rear suspension is a robust aluminum swingarm, with an
attached single gas rear shock absorber with an aluminum
structure that is completely adjustable; it works through
a progressive linkage system. Both axles are equipped
with 270 mm (front) and 240 mm (rear) diameter disk brakes,
with a four-piston caliper on the front brake and a twin-piston
caliper on the rear brake, both exclusively designed by
AJP for Sherco. The two master cylinders - from the same
manufacturer - have an integrated brake fluid container.
The rims, built from aluminum by Excel, have steel spokes
and are equipped with Michelin competition tires both
in the front and in the rear.
In keeping with the competitive mentality of the Sherco
trademark, the new Enduro 4.5i
will make its competition debut next year, after going
through a full development phase with a test-rider in
charge of it. |

Sherco
will present at the Paris and Milan motor shows
|
|
The new Enduro 4.5i
and the redesigned trials models will be the Sherco highlights
|
|
|
 |
|
The new Enduro 4.5i which has been
developed entirely in our factory in Nimes (France) is going to be the
newest Sherco model to be introduced at the Milan Motor Show. This new
bike marks Sherco's grand entrance into the Enduro market. It is equipped
with a new Sherco designed and produced 4-Stroke 450cc engine that is
equipped with a liquid-cooling system, four valves and electronic fuel
injection. As a last minute inclusion, the Milan Show attendees will be
able to preview the new Supermotard version of this model.
Along with these new models, Sherco will be displaying its full line
of products, spearheaded by the wide range of 2004 Trial's models - the
market in which Sherco started - a market in which Sherco has had great
success in competition. We will display five models with cylinder capacities
ranging from 80cc to 272cc; this is undoubtedly the most complete and
avant-garde product line-up in the trials market. The Enduro 50, the Supermotard
50 and the CityCorp 125 with a 4 - Stroke engine along with the new Enduro
version will complete the Sherco exposition at these shows.
We are located in the 11th Pavilion, H60 stand
at the Milan Show.
