Memories of the 2002 SSDT: by Andreu

Three weeks have passed since the SSDT
and I am remembering all of the great times. I want to express my gratitude to
all of the people who were involved with us this year.
I must say that I was thrilled on the
Sunday night prior to the event when I saw that 65 riders in the parc ferme
(parking area) were on Sherco, this was amazing. Sherco has improved its
presence dramatically since 2000. Gas Gas had 68 entries, Montesa 52, Beta 40,
Scorpa 14 and Yamaha 9. I am sure that the high number of Sherco's present is
the fruit of four years of producing outstanding high performance reliable
bikes. I want to thank all of the Sherco riders for the confidence they have in
our products. |

Along with Malcolm and Rhoda Rathmell, we
organized a rider's service that was first class. We brought our big truck from
Spain; the truck brought the 18 bikes for the French and Spanish riders.
Malcolm set up the spare part's service in the truck. We daily stocked the
truck with fresh fruit, sandwiches, cakes and hot soup for every Sherco rider,
this was a great success, and the riders loved it. Jeannot, Sheldon, Michel and
Killer took care of all of the Sherco riders needs during the long days of the
trial. They were there when the first rider started at 7:30 am and when the
last rider arrived that night at 7:00 pm, they worked 12-hour days. Killer
still had plenty of humor left every night as he made everyone smile with his
jokes at the Sherco Headquarters in the West End Hotel. |

I, Marc Teissier and Jorge Alonso who is the
man in charge of quality control at the factory, represented the factory in the
SSDT. I am sure that this was a great experience for Jorge. The SSDT is the
most demanding event there is for a bike. Jorge finished 69th position, which
is great for a newcomer. He did not miss trying some of the black bugs that you
encounter in the moorland. |

We had very good weather again, only
some misty rain on Friday. Marc Teissier and I rode the Sherco 2.5 and
everything performed perfectly. Paxau installed some of the 2003 updates in my
bike, new gearbox, new rear suspension and a few other little things that were
very nice improvements. You will see all of these improvements in your 2003
bike in September. For sure, we enjoyed the great sections and Laggan Locks.
Lagnaha, Lower Mamore, Pipe Line etc. the course is so beautiful and so
demanding, it was a great event and I hope to ride it for many more years.
Thanks to everyone for attending the
event with us. |

Owner Dirk Schillings opened his
shop in 1998. He was one of the first SHERCO dealers in germany back in 1999
and he became within a short time a reliable partner for all trial enthusiasts.
Since the beginning he believed in the new brand and supplied many trialdrivers
in his area with bikes, accessoires and expert Know How. He supports his
drivers in national competition with technical and mental advice, sometimes
even as a minder.
Also he founded the PRO MoTo SHERCO

training by experienced drivers and teamhead Dirk and they all expect another
exciting and successfull trial season 2002 together with SHERCO. |
