The Sherco rider Graham Jarvis
lies second in the overall standings of the Trial World Championship after the
two days of the first 2001 round, the Trial de Sant Llorenç. Jarvis
displayed a perfect adaptation to the hard weather conditions which affected
Catalonia on the two days, which included snow in Sant Joan de les Abadesses,
the headquarters of the trial, forcing the organisation to cancel or modify
some of the sections on the second day.
Jarvis finished in a praiseworthy
third place on the first day, the same day he turned 25. "It is a good way to
celebrate my birthday, a podium finish is very important for me, particularly
after the hard recovery I had to go through due to last year's injury. I
believe that this season I will recover my real position in the World
Championship, and we have really started well to do it." |
|
The second day he confirmed his
phenomenal weekend with another great performance, climbing up to the second
place, which has taken him to the same position in the championship standings.
"It has been another fantastic day. In the first lap I dropped some silly feet,
but the second was much better. The sections were easy on the second day. A lot
of them were modified, but it was not easy at all for the organisation to solve
the problems caused by the snow." |

Marc Freixa, the Team
Otyan-Sherco rider, also had an outstanding performance, rewarding the support
and affection of the many fans who followed the trial. He finished in the sixth
place on the first day, although he was very close to the leaders. "I rode with
a little more pressure than usual, maybe because I wanted to get a good result
in my home event". On the second day his performance improved significantly,
but he came home with the same points as the third and fourth place riders only
to lose it for the number of cleans and drop back to fifth place. "I started
very calm, I just wanted to ride, and that was reflected in the result. In the
final standings I could have been higher, but on the two days the gaps between
the riders have been very narrow. We still have a long way to go to the end of
the championship"
The Sherco rider Josep Manzano
was one of the main protagonists of the Junior class, getting the second place
on both days. Marcel Justribó, in the Team Otyan Sherco, the
uncontested leader of the Italian Championship, had a discreet performance on
both days, scoring his best result on the first day. |

Sherco and the
Andalusian Motorcycling Federation have agreed to start the first
Challenge Sherco, a competition which will join all the riders who take
part in the Trial Andalusian Championship and use any of the versions of the
Sherco motorbikes in the trial events. The riders will be divided into two
categories, the 'Sherco-Masters' - formerly 'Masters' - and the
'Sherco-Aficionados' (amateurs) - formerly divided between Beginners and
Amateurs - according to their levels and ages. At the end of each event the
best three in each of the classes will receive a voucher to exchange for parts
and accessories for their motorbikes at any Sherco dealer. All the riders that

| Guy Cooper also joins Sherco |
 |
|
Former American motocross
champion Guy Cooper, one of the most beloved, respected and admired
riders by the American public, is the new image of the Sherco bikes in the
United States. The versatile American rider, as well as many other Anglo-saxon
enduro, motocross and supercross champions like Stanton, Bayle or Burleson
recommend trial as the 'secret weapon' to dominate any bike perfectly. And
according to Guy, there is nothing better than riding any of the Sherco
motoribikes to start forming a champion. |
|
 |
| |
|
For Guy Cooper, the Sherco
motorbikes offer the best characteristics: reliability, lightweight -it is the
lightest bike in the market-, design, etc. with the best quality available, the
result of a great job by the manufacturer's technicians. Everything with the
highest respect for the environment. For Cooper, "the secret lies there.
Sherco is the bike." |
