>> The Sherco Cup 2004: the Challenge is here again…

The 2003 Sherco Cup was so successful that Sherco is going to sponsor it again in 2004. This championship series will be held in France and will coincide with the French Supermotard Championship series. The Sherco Cup promotes the sport of Supermotard Racing to youngsters who are just starting their racing careers.
Sherco provides all of the structure for the young riders at a very moderate price. The riders are provided with a specially prepared Sherco SM 50, a complete riding uniform, fuel, entry fees and paddock space under the Sherco tents.
The Sherco Cup is a challenge open to young people between 12 and 19 years of age. The must have an F.F.M license and be in good health in order to compete. The races are held on courses that consist of 70% asphalt and 30% natural terrain. This sport is becoming very popular with both the public and the media
SHERCO is a motorcycle manufacturing company that is based in Nimes; this will be the second year that they have promoted this series. In 2003, 25 young people participated in a 6 race series that included a support structure worthy of the largest racing stable.
Throughout the year you could see the skill of the riders improve, more than half of the competitors had never participated in motorcycle competition.
The spirit of the Sherco Cup is based on promoting discipline, cooperation and respect, qualities that are necessary for succeeding in life. The seeds of a champion planted in these young people by competing in this series will help them develop a winning attitude.
Between races the riders are given the opportunity to practice on several different race circuits, this is done to help develop the riders and is conducted in a friendly family environment.

>> Fun in the Sun with David Chaves and Travis Fox of Team Sherco
David and Travis along with several other members of Team Sherco made the annual pilgrimage to Southern Florida for the Fun in the Sun Trials. They both had a great time and really enjoyed the weather. Thursday and Friday were a little cool, Saturday was warmer but Sunday was great, it was close to 80 degrees. The organizers did a great job, David really liked the sections, there were fifteen on Saturday and twelve on Sunday, the riders had to ride three loops.
David finished 5th on Sunday with 18 points and 1st on Sunday with 13 points, he thought the sections on Saturday were a little bit easy, if you lost concentration and lost points on a given section you were in trouble as it was very difficult to make up any ground. He felt that the sections on Sunday were more difficult and he rose to the occasion with a first place finish. With his 5th and his 1st place finishes he ended up 3rd overall. David felt that the sections offered a wide range of challenges wit rocks, off-cambers, up hills and down hills. He also thought that this trial provided them with some great practice before the NATC nationals which start the first weekend in April at TTC. David was testing Dunlop tires this weekend and rode Michelin's on Saturday and Dunlop's on Sunday; he had better results with the Dunlop's. Travis also was testing the Dunlop's, he rode Dunlop's and Saturday and Michelin's on Sunday, again posting his best results with the Dunlop's.
Travis rode fairly well on Saturday finishing right behind David, Sunday was a different story as he dropped over 50 points, and he struggled with the large undercut sections and now knows what he has to work on in order to improve. Travis also thought that the organizers did a great job on everything. "Very well organized, good trials, good sections, good practice before the Nationals."

>> Stefano Passeri debuts the Sherco 4.5i at the Italian championship
An excellent 3rd and 4th place finish for a brand new bike

Igleasias (CA) - The race was run in the south of Sardinia, in the mining area of Igleasias, this was the first race in the Italian Enduro Championship.
This 2 day event proved to be an excellent debut for the new Sherco 4.5i Enduro bike. Since the 4.5i was designed as a true enduro bike and not a detuned MX bike the difficult conditions which included: hail, rain and mud were an ideal test for the new machine. These conditions made life difficult for all of the riders.
Stefano was able to guide the 4.5i into a third place finish in the 450 4t class on Saturday which gave the Sherco Marquee its first podium in this discipline. The company representatives were extremely happy with these results. Stefano declared that absolutely no problems have arisen with the new bike.
On Sunday Stefano was running in 2nd position and was certain that he would finish there when he crashed badly, it took him several minutes to resume and was able to finish it 4th place in the 450 4t class. Stefano felt that it was a fine day in spite of the unfortunate crash. This contest which was very muddy and also included a series of special tests was absolutely perfect for testing the reliability and competitiveness of the new machine. It exceeded all expectations. The bike has demonstrated an elevated degree of reliability and it is extremely competitive.

>> World debut for the Sherco Enduro Team delayed
Things are happening very quickly for the Sherco enduro team, although some more time is needed for the right conditions in order to mount a challenge on the enduro world round, for this reason the Sherco Enduro Team has postponed their debut until April 24/25th in Italy.
