First hands-on test of the New Sherco
0.8
USA
schoolboy rider Dean Baumert had the opportunity to test ride the
new 0.8 that Sherco USA introduced at the Indianapolis Dealer show |
|
|
|
|
2003 is
the first year that Sherco has developed an 80cc Trials Motorcycle.
Suited much better for riders "in-between" a 50cc
and a 125cc, this baby definitely delivers! We had 11 year
old Youth Rider Dean Baumert take the new 80cc for a test
ride to find out exactly how it worked for him. Dean has had
experience with a lot of different motorcycles and was currently
riding a 125cc Sherco in competition, but thought an 80cc
might be the ticket!
Dean fit very well on this bike. Dean said, "The smaller
stance gives me more confidence than the bigger and more powerful
125cc". He also stated that he knows the less power on
the 80cc compared to the 125cc will not hinder his riding
at all. "Using the proper technique and the added confidence
of the smaller frame will help me in the sections".
What was Deans first ride impression? "It handles
great and has awesome power, with lots of low end".
He also said, "I was surprised how
easy it was to start, and I could start it while it was in
gear".

 |
|
|
|
Well if
first impressions are any indication of how well a bike will
do, the new Sherco 80 should be very well received and be
a great addition to the Sherco family of Trials bikes. Dean
did a great job testing out the bike and checked it out thoroughly.
He was definitely riding with a lot more confidence from the
very first time he threw a leg over it.
The Sherco 0.8 is a truly upgradeable bike as it uses many
of the same components from the Sherco bigger sisters. You
can upgrade it to 1.25 or 2.0 capacity by just changing the
top end and you can have a full size bike by just changing
the wheels (actually all you need to do is lace up a new set
of rims as it uses the some hubs as the 1.25/2.0) and front
fork.
